Mud Pies and Home Schooling

I had hoped to start school this week, but it didn't happened. Next Monday is my new starting goal, and I'm starting to get excited. I haven't had a kindergartener for 5 years, since Ellen, and I'm actually looking forward to teaching Jacob how to read this year. I'm going to be using a new-to-me kindergarten program, My Father's World, and I've spent the last few days getting familiar with it.

While I've been planning our school year, Ellen (now in 5th grade, can you believe it?!!!) has been making mud pies. She is getting anxious to start school and even did two lessons of math today on her own. She is motivated! Here is a picture of Ellen's mud pie, complete with animals and foliage. I'm sure she would be happy to provide the recipe upon request.

Sure! Maybe I can convince Courtney to have that for her birthday instead of Cherry Coffee Cake! :-)
